Programme Overview
The Programme is the first BA art joint programme between one of the top 100 universities in the world and a university in China. It has been a “4+0” dual degree program since the People's Republic of China implemented measures on Chinese-Foreign Cooperation for institutes of higher education. The Fashion Design and Art & Design courses at Dalian Polytechnic University have been awarded A+ ratings, and are now ranked in the top 5% for these types of courses offered by universities across China. The university's Fashion program is ranked fourth in China, and the School of Fashion has been rated as among the ten best Chinese fashion schools. The University of Southampton is the largest comprehensive university in the south of the UK outside of London and provides opportunities to study various disciplines. The University was ranked 87th in the world according to the League Rankings released by The Guardian and 23th in the UK in 2017. The faculty of Art and Design (including the Dalian programme) were ranked 7th in the UK.
The Fashion Design and Graphic Arts Programmes at the School of International Education offer comprehensive，contemporary, and hands-on experiences. Both programmes value the strong relationships with their respective industries, ensuring that teachers and students are up-to-date with current industry needs and have the latest studio production equipment in state-of-the-art facilities that deliver the very best studio based teaching. The programme adopts an international education model to jointly cultivate an international vision and master the theoretical knowledge for design students. Combined with oriental and western cultures, the students will study modern design concepts and become high-quality professionals.
The programmes provide Art and Design education that mirrors the WSA UK curriculum, offering students opportunities to progress and transfer to the UK programmes upon completion of two years of required coursework. Upon successful completion of the University of Southampton programme, either in Dalian (4+0), or in WSA in the UK (2+2), students graduate with both the University of Southampton’s undergraduate degree certificate and the Dalian Polytechnic University’s undergraduate degree certificate.
Programme Specification
Students will be awarded Bachelor of Arts and there is no specific requirements for previous subject classes. The programme includes Graphic Arts and Fashion Design and the duration will be 4 years.
[Entry Requirements and Qualifications]
1.According to "score priority, follow the candidates' choices (the priority of professional choice is higher than the obedience of choices), and the stepless difference between professional choices" .
2.Applicants must pass the Provincial Specialized Course Examination and complete the university application form specifying their major. As some of the courses are taught by foreign teachers, excellent English skills are preferred.
3.Applicants will generally be expected to meet the minimum requirement of both Specialized Courses and General Courses administered by their provincial Admissions Office as well as have met the minimum score of 90 on their English examination. All successful applicants shall be matriculated according to their overall score from highest to lowest. If any applicants obtain identical overall scores, their individual scores in each of the following areas will determine acceptance with Specialized Course considered as most important, then Chinese Literature, Mathematic, Arts, Science, and finally elective courses in this sequence.
4.Overall Band Score calculation method:
Overall Band Score = Specialized Courses + General Courses
General Course scores are calculated by dividing the full credit of the examination and multiplying it by 750.
English results are calculated by dividing the full credit of the examination multiplied by 150.
The Specialized Course score is calculated by dividing the full credit of the examination multiplied by 300.
5.The university will give priority to applicants with extremely outstanding performances on their Specialized Course class. The minimum English entry requirement may be lowered by 10 points for applicants who rank in the first 200 candidates of the Provincial Specialized Course Examination.
6.In regards to the physical examination for enrollment, the university follows “Guidance on the Physical Examination of Higher Education Admissions” issued by the Ministry of Education, National Health Commission, and China Disabled Persons’ Federation as well as the “Further Criterion of Enrollment Medical Examination to Safeguard HBV Carriers’ Enrollment and Employment Rights” issued by the Ministry of Education, National Health Commission, and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
7.The university considers all bonus points and point deductions based on related regulations and policies. However, the university only considers General Course results to make the ranking list and determine students’ course programmes.
8、No applicant will be enrolled if any of the score criteria results are zero.

Tuition fee: 50,000 RMB/per year
Accommodation fee: 1,200 RMB/per year/person (maximum)
